Let me start by saying – I LOVE leopard print. Probably a little bit too much. I often tease about the outfit I could put together in head to toe leopard print, complete with a skinny scarf for accessorizing and a bathrobe to keep me warm. I think there’s something so classic yet edgy about the print that draws me to it, and it can be so versatile! With that being said, it’s often a difficult print to work with. There are many negative connotations surrounding it and there’s a fine line between wearing it with poise and sophistication or quite frankly, the opposite. Below I’ve put together some of my favorite leopard looks with easy tips on how to incorporate the sassy print into your own wardrobe!
Look #1 and Start SmallSo you want to start incorporating some leopard print into your wardrobe… Why not start by dipping your toes in? Literally. A good place to start adding any new patterns or colors to your wardrobe is with accessories, and shoes are the perfect option! When doing so, make sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple to really draw attention to the lively print or bold new color.
Bonus tip: when putting an outfit together, begin with an anchor piece! An easy anchor is always bottoms, more specifically, a great pair of jeans. This pair is from Target and I love the released hem and ankle length that really help highlight these fabulous H&M booties! From there I knew I wanted a solid piece on top and you can never go wrong with black. I’ve also been loving a good peplum (or ruffle hem) lately, so I instantly reached for this top from Old Navy! Finish with a bold necklace and you’re good to go!
Look #2 and Go For It!
Feeling a little more confident? Go for it! Leopard can come in so many different variations, from a graphic black and white to something a little more subdued, like this one I picked up at a second hand clothing store. Really spend some time shopping around to find the unique look that’s perfect for YOU!Play around with a lighter variation of the print by mixing in pastels and trying some colored bottoms! These jeans are also from Target and the shoes are Christian Siriano for Payless. They’re seriously so on trend and I think I got them for less than $20! Score! Finally, this fun tasseled purse is from Styles for Less and I think it adds just a touch of whimsy that really pulls the look together!
Look #3 and Now You’ve Got It
Now that you’re an old pro at this leopard print thing, it’s time to start having some fun! You’ll notice that you can find literally anything in leopard print. Thank goodness! For this look I opted for a great kimono and went a little bit bolder with the entire ensemble.
My anchor for this look was a fitted denim skirt that I’m obsessed with. I’ve been hunting one down for a while and was so excited to find the perfect one! The brand is Style & Co and it’s got just the right amount of stretch. From there, I wanted to mix a graphic tee with the print and I LOVE the way they compliment each other! I finished the look with some of my staple accessories (Indigo Rd. booties, a Forever 21 belt, Charlotte Russe hat) and a daring red lip!
