Trend Talk: The Cold Shoulder

‘Tis the season of interesting shirts! On trend right now are tops with details like cutouts, off the shoulder, ruffles, bell sleeves, and yes – the cold shoulder trend. Love it or hate it, this style doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon! I wasn’t sure what to make of this trend at first but once I found a top I really liked, I was hooked! It shows just the right amount of skin without being too revealing. I even had my wedding dress altered with some subtle lace sleeves that played into the trend!

Read on to see some of my favorite looks featuring the trend, where to buy, and finally, my take on the cold shoulder!

My Favorite Looks:

The first look that I absolutely ADORE can be found on Allison Kelley of But What Should I Wear. I love how the top plays into the ruffle trend as well and is kept ultra girly by pairing with a skirt!

This next look was found while scrolling through the internet for inspiration. I love how chic it is with just the hint of a shoulder cutout and the longer midi skirt. The accessories are also fab with bold sunglasses and a punch of color from the purse!

Lastly, this look from Brittany Xavier of Thrifts and Threads is perfect for the fall. It is SO my style with the black top, ankle length distressed skinnies, and versatile boots. It’s an easy way to look casual yet pulled together!

Nordstrom Rack: Striped Cold Shoulder Blouse

My Take on the Trend:

I wanted to style this top as if it were for a date night with my wonderful hubby. I’m obsessed with the vibrancy of this mustard yellow as well as the bold floral pattern. My closet mainly consists of neutrals and muted/dark autumnal colors, so this was definitely something different! I found this fabulous blouse at Ross for twelve dollars. Yes, please!

This top is just screaming to be the main attraction, so I made sure it wouldn’t be fighting for center stage by pairing with a neutral. By keeping everything else black, the color just pops that much more! These staple black jeans are one of my favorites and they’re from Target.IMG_3380

To continue letting the top take the lead, I paired with minimal accessories like this simple choker from Wal-Mart, my go-to Kate Spade purse and some chunky sandals from Target.IMG_3366
